Cheap and Chic Gladiator Sandals

June 23rd, 2008

After seeing Carrie Bradshaw and countless other trendsetting celebrities sporting fabulous gladiator sandals, it is only natural to want to get a pair or two for yourself. However, after getting a glimpse of the hefty price tag on the Christian Dior gladiator sandals that Carrie wore in the Sex and the City movie, as well as on other gladiator sandals of choice of celebrities, you might find yourself shying away.

But you don’t have to spend hundreds of dollars to get star-quality gladiator sandals! I’ve put together a list of chic alternatives to the high-end gladiator sandal styles.  So go on and step into the limelight in these gladiator sandals.  Only you have to know how much (or how little) you spent!

1) My friend Sara at Heel Candy pointed out the Enzo Angiolini ‘Tells’ sandal ($). Sara thinks that these look best with a pair of leggings or a denim skirt and a t-shirt – keep it simple to accentuate the shoes. I love how the shoe has studs going up the front of the sandal, and three buckles on the side. These details add edginess to the otherwise classic look of the shoe.

2) If you’d like to rock Carrie Bradshaw’s Dior gladiator sandal look without dishing out over $700, Steve Madden’s wonderful MADALYNN BLACK MULTI is a look-alike and will only cost you $109.95. The Madalynn comes in either black or brown. I found this bargain at Steal the Style.

3) Gwyneth Paltrow wore a stunning pair of bronze Giuseppe Zanotti for Balmain sandals at the Two Lovers premier in Cannes. As Style It Less points out, you can have this look for less with these bronze gladiator platform open toe sandals from Ami Clubwear for a mere $19.99!

4) Hot Mama Daily found Christina’s same gladiator heel look for less. Hot Mama has a few great suggestions to copy Christina’s look:

Bakers ‘Erika’ ($79.95)

Guess by Marciano gladiator heel ($89.99)

Bebe ‘Jenae’ lace-up ($129)

GoJane.com strappy gladiator faux leather heel ($22.99)

So those are my ideas for cheap and chic gladiator sandals,  What other versions of the gladiator sandal do you love, and which do you despise? Are you saving/splurging on designer gladiator sandals, or stocking up on knockoffs like the ones I’ve collected here?
