Packing for NYC and Fashion’s Night Out!!!

September 8th, 2009

Tomorrow afternoon I’ll be on my way to NYC for Fashion Week!  Although I didn’t get in to the main event this time, I will be attending many exciting fashion-related events.  So far, my plans include Fashion’s Night Out, IFB;s Dress Up Soiree, a few store openings, and a fun Shoehunting tweetup I’m hosting at the Cocoa Bar involving wine and chocolate.  I might even catch a glimpse of Christian Louboutin or my favorite shoe designer, Giuseppe Zanotti!!!  Whatever I end up doing, I have to go with enough clothes and shoes for 8 days!  If I had my way, I would take at least 8 pairs of shoes, but that is simply ridiculous, both because it costs now to check baggage, and also because I would look silly dragging around all that luggage.  Needless to say, packing has taken me quite some time and thought, but I think I’ve got it all figured out!  Read on to see how I planned my footwear for the trip.

GIUSEPPE ZANOTTI

First and foremost, I will need a comfortable and cute walking shoe for exploring the city (and, of course, shopping).  I didn’t want to bring a sneaker, so I opted for these dainty Naturalizer ‘Roxy’ sandals in red, since most of my clothing is black.  You can also buy them in light blue with the link below.

Next, a showstopping stiletto heel is in order for IFB’s Dress Up Soiree, since everyone will be dressed to the nines and vying for a prize for Best Dressed!  I’ll be wearing a black cocktail dress with a velvety maroon bodice, so I chose these matching peep toe pumps by Pura Lopez:

With all the cocktail and networking parties I’m attending, I’m going to need a shoe equivalent to the Little Black Dress.  My “little black dress” shoe is this BCBGirls cutout sandal, because it will go with everything I’m bringing and is appropriate for almost any event!  And of course, the fact that they make me feel like sexy Superwoman gives them extra points in my book ;)  You can buy them from the link below, but I found mine on sale for $29.40 at Dillard’s during their Labor Day sale!

These Faryl Robin pumps are an extra pair of dress shoes that would fit almost any occasion.  With the removable snake print ankle straps and classic shape, they are sassy and classy at the same time.

, $137.47

Finally, I’m bringing along my trusty Nike LunarGlide+ running shoes, because there’s a fitness center in my hotel, and I might even take my running outside, in Central Park.  I’m determined to stay in top shape even with all the delicious snacks and drinks I’m sure I’ll sample during my trip.

Only five pairs, one might ask?  Well my dears, bringing just five pairs of shoes also leaves room for new acquisitions from Fashion’s Night Out.  I hope that this little insight into my packing strategy will help you if you’re packing for New York Fashion Week or another trip…or at least it will entertain you until I post again, from the Big Apple!  :)

xoxo,
