Remember how last week I wished for my first pair of Christian Louboutins to celebrate my upcoming 25th birthday? On Friday I took a trip to Saks to try on a few pairs to get a feel for the fit, and I left with a huge smile on my face. My red solemates are on their way!

I had been eyeing three styles in particular – the Lady Peep in nude, Bibi in nude or black, and Simple in black. Knowing whatever pair I chose was going to be my first pair (and only pair for a while), I was set on finding a style I would actually wear, and for years to come.
After about an hour looking in the mirror and debating over styles and colors, I ended up ordering a pair of the New Simple Pump 120mm in black patent leather.

I chose the New Simple pump for a few main reasons…
- It felt really comfortable compared with the Bibi, and knowing Louboutins are notorious for being painful, how could I pass up such a great pair?
- Knowing after this splurge it’ll be some time before I buy another pair, I chose a classic pump to wear anywhere, from the office to a night out.
- The platform gives me the height I want without putting me on my tippy-toes.
- I originally wanted black nappa leather but I’m actually happier I chose glossy black patent. When I wear my red bottoms I want people to notice them!
I’m not going to lie – my heart did race when the salesman pulled out the discoball Bibi platform heels. But I still chose the more “practical” New Simple pumps. Do you think I made a good choice going with a classic, or should I have gone all-out festive with a louder Louboutin?
