Last week a reader asked me how to wear leopard print without looking “skanky”, and I wanted to share my thoughts with you.  In general, I like to keep my leopard print on my accessories, specifically leopard print shoes.  A leopard shoe can go with nearly any outfit as long as you have an open mind and tie everything together with a few key accessories.

1. Black and Brown

When in doubt, wear one piece of leopard with an all black outfit and black/brown accessories.  You can’t go wrong with this classic look.

2. Casual Khaki

For a casual look, try wearing leopard shoes with khaki capris, a skinny black or brown belt, and a solid-color top.

3. Summery Florals

Have some fun in the sun with a bright floral-patterned blouse, grounded by a leopard belt and brown-hued accessories.

4. Red Hot Leopard

Leopard and red were made for each other!  For an outfit that’s as sophisticated as it is sexy, pair a red sundress or cocktail dress with leopard shoes, a metallic clutch and matching jewelry.

    I truly believe leopard (and pretty much all animal prints) are the hardest patterns to pull off. It can go so wrong so easily, so I really admire anyone who can wear it well. This is really helpful advice because it makes leopard more of a detail rather than a focal point in an ensemble. My fave is the ‘casual khaki’ look. It’s casual, but with a little edge….thanks for the ideas!

    I love leopard! Personally, I’m a huge fan of a floral mixed with leopard; it is unexpected, but if styled right it can look fantastic! :)
