Elle spotted Beyonce wearing Charlotte Olympia leopard smoking slippers
A top trend for fall 2012 that I simply cannot wait to try, smoking slippers are a sophisticated menswear-inspired alternative to the ballet flat. Whether covered in velvet, brocade, or leopard spots, the smoking slipper has a way of effortlessly adding both edge and class to any ensemble. Not to mention, these shoes are made for comfort – what’s not to love?
I am now on the hunt for the perfect pair of smoking flats. If I had more money to burn, I would totally scoop up these Alexander McQueen Venour Sequin Skull Smoking Slippers. Or those Charlotte Olympia Kitty Leopard Smoking Slippers Beyonce is sporting in the picture above. Sigh.

Regardless of how brave you’re feeling, there is a smoking slipper for everyone, from simply classic styles to bold versions with fierce twists. My favorites are smoking slippers with luxe animal prints and tribal prints, because they are versatile but they still scream, look at me!

Now is the time to try out this trend and style these shoes in all sorts of creative ways. The Campus Companion shares some fabulous ideas for how to wear smoking slippers. How would you style yours?
The temperature is climbing, and colors that pop and sizzle make the hot summer months even more exhilarating. Lately I’ve been craving bright-colored shoes, like blue (this summer’s coolest color), orange, and many other neon lovelies, especially these Davis by Ruthie Davis Graffiti Pumps. It’s amazing how a tiny splash of color can take your wardrobe from drab to fab.
So now let’s take a look at what is the happiest and most refreshing color in the spectrum: yellow. There’s just something about the color yellow that adds a little extra spring to your step, and a little more laughter to your life. Yellow is also the most attention-grabbing color, so if you’re looking for a pair of showstopping shoes that shows off your playful personality, look no further! Below the break, I’ve found a pair of yellow shoes for every occasion and budget. Which is your favorite?
I own the sassy BCBGirls Women’s Roman Wedge above in black, and I actually prefer it over the ‘Genevieve’ wedge. I found the ‘Roman’ sandals at Marshalls for half price, so you might want to check with your local Marshalls before buying them online! The rows of black and metallic ribbons woven into the espadrille wedge heel create a stunning visual effect, and add just enough glitz to your look without going overboard. The heel measures approximately 4 1/2 inches, and the platform adds 1 1/4 inches.
Now if you’ve got a little more money to spend, and prefer a more delicate look, perhaps you will like the Cole Haan – Air Genevieve Wedge. The NIKE AIR Technology incorporated in this shoe ensures the ultimate in comfort (although the ‘Roman’ is extremely comfortable, too). Both of these styles look great paired with skinny jeans.
One of the prizes I won in the Marshalls ‘Love Affair of the Sole” contest last year was being a featured blogger on their “What’s In” community Web site for this Spring season. Needless to say, I’ve been visiting Marshalls more lately, and today I found some Spring goodies in the Shoe MegaShop!
I was on the prowl for a pair of cute cork wedges (one of the top ten must-have shoes for Spring, for sure). My treasure hunt was complete when I spotted these adorable (and sexy) cork wedges by BCBGirls, for only $39.99! With the high cork wedge and combination of black and neutral colors, these shoes are both leg-lengthening and versatile. You can wear them with a flirty sundress or a black cocktail mini, jeans or a pencil skirt. They are sure to become an integral part of my Spring wardrobe!
Check out pictures of all the shoes I spotted on sale over on my Marshalls blog.
For some reason, I couldn’t locate these exact shoes on the Internet (the closest I came was the BCBGirls Women’s Six Sandal). This is an example of a shoe that you might find at Marshalls that is both trendy and hard to find. However I did spot many other drool-worthy cork wedges on Piperlime. Find your perfect wedge here:

Turn heads in these curve-enhancing “Saraff” sandals by BCBGirls (multi cashew color). Play up the bits of color in these heels with this orange Fendi tote. The slingback patent heel strap and adjustable buckle side closure ensure that these heels will fit perfectly. The sandals are $110 at shoes.com, while the Fendi bag is a hefty $1,360.

Motto to live by: Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, wine in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming, “WOO HOO what a ride!”
In honor of all you “It” girls out there, here’s a shoe that’s also got it all: The BCBG MAX AZRIA Idalina Pump will spice up any outfit, and it’s perfect for hitting the dance floor! $224.95 at Endless.com.
