Sam Edelman ‘Dawson’ Gladiator Sandals

I’ve been meaning to post a follow-up about these Sam Edelman ‘Dawson’ shoes for some time, since I’ve been tweeting incessantly about how wonderful they are.  Sam Edelman is known for comfortable and trendy styles.  The ‘Dawson’ gladiator sandals have become my go-to shoes this season, because they are just edgy enough to offset my favorite summer dresses, they are extremely comfortable for all-day wear, and I just love the strappy look and embellishment.  I’ve relied on them while traveling, running errands and to the pool.

After my happy experience with Sam Edelman sandals, it was no surprise to me to find out that Shoe Bunny spotted a celebrity, Demi Lovato wearing ‘Dawson’ sandals.

If you’re looking for a stylish alternative to the flip-flop, the ‘Dawson’ receives my highest recommendation.

Spring Essential, #1: Sam Edelman Dawson Sandal

As part of this week’s “Spring Forward” topic , I present to you the first featured spring shoe from my closet…

Sam Edelman Dawson Sandal in black

Sam Edelman‘s low wedge “Dawson” sandal is the perfect casual style to complement sheaths, knits and denim. The intricate beading and polished stones create a trendy look that is as versatile as it is edgy. The universally flattering strappy design is flirty, and the soft toe post and covered heel ensure a comfortable fit. I’m sure this will be one of my favorite embellished sandals of the season!

Shine This Holiday Season In Dazzling Shoes

Nine West Timepiece Pumps, $89 at NineWest.com

These are the shoes I ended up bringing to Kansas with me for the holidays.  I would have brought more options, but I had for myself the goal of packing light, and I succeeded – fitting everything in one suitcase (under 50lbs) and my laptop bag!  These Nine West pumps are perfect, with the beaded decoration on the heels and the supple suede upper, and of course black goes with everything.  Not to mention they make my legs look AHH-MAZING and my feet don’t hurt after a few hours in them.

Of course, one pair of heels just won’t quite cut it for me…I did make a shoe purchase at TJ Maxx the other day ($69!!!) that will make me look and feel like royalty during the New Year’s Eve festivities.

Flat Cuffed Sandals, and How To Rock ‘Em

Flat sandals with ankle cuffs are hot this summer!  With straps, fringed tassels, or in soft, slouchy suede, they add a masculine element to a sometimes overly-feminine summer look.  Also, shoes with ankle cuffs look good on small ankles because they accentuate the calf, but they can also provide some much-wanted camouflage for bigger ankles.  I’m thinking I need to get a pair or two myself…so I went shopping, and found a few great picks from Piperlime:

Industry SLS09-44M – Eggplant. $90 – I love the cutout pattern around the ankle cuff, and the color!

Chinese Laundry Sudoku – Desert tan
, $70 – My favorite!  These are more feminine, so they’d be cute with a simple shift dress.

Sam Edelman Ginnie – Orange pebbled leather
, $89 – A great basic cuffed sandal, available in a variety of colors.

Corso Como Key – Black
, $129 – A more masculine-chic style, this one is perfect for toning down a frilly dress or skirt.

dollhouse Luna – Turquoise
, $40 – Talk about a splash of refreshing color!

Pierre Dumas Viviana 3 – Pewter
, $40 – Metallic sandals are versatile, and the lacing at the cuff lends just enough of a girly touch.

For those of you who wear a larger shoe size, I recommend the Cocobelle City Sandal (Dark Brown) ($99) from BarefootTess.com – it will be the perfect fit!

Unsure about what outfits will make the most of cuffed sandals?  Choose light, airy dresses, like the Victoria’s Secret strapless smocked dress shown above.   I suggest you invest in a neutral-colored pair of flat cuffed sandals (like the Sam Edelman Ginnie here, shown in nude) so that you can wear them year after year, and with many different outfits. Claudia over at StarFashionAddict.com also suggests trying to pair cuffed sandals with a short floral ruffle skirt and a simple fitted white or black shirt to instantly give your look a bit of an edge.

What do you think of flat cuffed sandals?  Will you be trying out this style?
