Flat sandals with ankle cuffs are hot this summer!  With straps, fringed tassels, or in soft, slouchy suede, they add a masculine element to a sometimes overly-feminine summer look.  Also, shoes with ankle cuffs look good on small ankles because they accentuate the calf, but they can also provide some much-wanted camouflage for bigger ankles.  I’m thinking I need to get a pair or two myself…so I went shopping, and found a few great picks from Piperlime:

Corso Como Key – Black, $129 – A more masculine-chic style, this one is perfect for toning down a frilly dress or skirt.

Pierre Dumas Viviana 3 – Pewter, $40 – Metallic sandals are versatile, and the lacing at the cuff lends just enough of a girly touch.

Unsure about what outfits will make the most of cuffed sandals?  Choose light, airy dresses, like the Victoria’s Secret strapless smocked dress shown above.   I suggest you invest in a neutral-colored pair of flat cuffed sandals (like the Sam Edelman Ginnie here, shown in nude) so that you can wear them year after year, and with many different outfits. Claudia over at StarFashionAddict.com also suggests trying to pair cuffed sandals with a short floral ruffle skirt and a simple fitted white or black shirt to instantly give your look a bit of an edge.
