The Nine West Fall 2010 Collection Preview

Creative Director Fred Allard launched his Nine West international tour and fall collection with a festive viewing last night at The Palace Hotel in NYC.  The Fall 2010 Nine West collection has something for every taste, from camo booties to velvet pumps to fur boots.  A few quirky bottom-halves of mannequins immediately catch the eye, surrounded by gorgeous shoes, luxurious fur and romantic lighting.  Take a look at the photos I took at the event below, and enjoy!

The collection featured tons of chic tall boots

And fur…

The military-inspired section won me over with tough and sexy looks…

(I would never have thought about wearing camo, until I spotted the calf-hair peep-toe bootie on the chair)

Accessories with velvet, ruching and feminine details posed prettily on silver platters and plush furniture…

Definitely a red and black theme going on here…love it!

My favorite pump of the collection…

Embellished pumps and matching clutches…

Jewelry made from lace…

More gems…

Clogs aren’t going away, but they get a stylish upgrade with shearling and a buckle strap around the heel…

A gorgeous tan open-toe bootie…

Over-the-knee lace up boots…

Fred worked the room, greeting everyone and gushing about his collection…

The cookies and other appetizers were both stylish and delicious.  Check out the decorated cookies…when they look so pretty and say EAT ME, how do you resist?!

I enjoyed seeing @Yuliz @styleIT @MorganW @budgetbabe@nitro_licious @fashionstbeauty @carolyn_hsu at the event.  Check out their Twitter profiles to see what they thought of the Nine West collection!

Shoe Lust: Report Signature Kane Thigh High Boots

So, now that I’ve bought my first pair of OTK boots, I have the urge to own a pair of thigh-high beauties like these Report Signature Kane Thigh High Boots. It’s the logical next step this fall, right?  I don’t think $475 is too much to ask for such a flashy boot, with the zipper detail and beautiful leather or suede upper.  Square metallic studs adorn the 18 inch circumference collar and removable garter strap, which can be attached to a belt!  Partial side zipper and elastic goring ensure easy on and off.  The heel stands 3 1/8 inches tall with a 3/4-inch hidden platform.

But go figure – the Kane boots are sold out!  So for now I’ll just sit here and drool on my keyboard, and hope that I can find an alternative that’s just as fabulous (and costs a little less).  Anyone have suggestions?  Leave them in the comments!  :)

I’d wear the Kane boots in suede with a flirty little party dress and sheer black tights to keep the S&M vibe to a minimum (if that’s possible with these boots).  Picture Taylor Momsen of Gossip Girl fame wearing thigh-high black boots with her cute ball gown dress in Season 1:

Shoe Smitten Featured in Oct/Nov Issue of Style Sample Magazine!

Flip through the Style Sample Magazine Issue #4 to page 14 and you will spot a mention of yours truly talking about my favorite fall trend: over-the-knee boots! I suggest everyone try the over-the-knee boot trend this fall, picking a pair in a versatile color.  OTK boots can be worn with bare legs and skirts, or over jeans or tights.  If you have larger, more muscular legs, try OTK boots that stretch, like these Nine West OTK boots.

Anna’s Top Ten Must-Have Shoes For Fall, $150 or Less

Fall’s just around the corner, so it’s time to start thinking about what shoes to buy for the season.  Below I’ve highlighted the hottest trends, and these are the shoes you need to add to your wardrobe before summer’s end.  I say this later, but if you only try one trend, I suggest you buy over-the-knee boots.  You don’t have to spend your entire month’s salary on a pair – just check out my picks below!

HEAVY HARDWARE: Add a little rock n’ roll glamor to your wardrobe this season!

Left: Keep it low-key by wearing this studded Ed Hardy – Sin City Shoe (Black) – Footwear ($89.95) and jeans or black pants.  The ‘Sin City’ is also available in fuchsia and purple.

Right: Steve Madden Women’s Revenu Studded Open Toe Pump ($120.37) is a contemporary choice that you can wear with a dress and tights, or with skinny jeans.

EXTREME PLATFORMS: The taller the heel and the thicker the platform, the better!

Left: The Michael Antonio Women’s Kerrel Open Toe Pump ($54.95) is extremely versatile and funky in black!  It is also available in orange, pink and yellow.

Right: Trinitie Heel – Blue Suede ($82.99): It’s got a fabulous platform, and it comes in this hot electric blue color, another trend for Fall!

EXOTIC SKINS & ANIMAL PRINTS: In both natural colors and Bold hues!

Left: Gwyneth Women’s Cassie Peep Toe Flat ($55.14), beautiful in blue, also available in yellow, natural and black.

RIght: Beverly Feldman Dara Pump ($101.17) combines both animal print and snakeskin for a luxurious shoe with a wild side!

OVER THE KNEE BOOTS: If you only choose one trend to try this fall, this is the trend to pay attention to!  Pick an OTK boot in a versatile color, and stay away from stilettos and patent leather.  Read my Guide to Wearing OTK Boots for more tips.

Left: The Nathan Boot – Dk Brown ($169.99) is a classy brown suede boot that will go with almost everything in your closet.

Right: This Restricted Women’s Sasha Boot ($69.95) lets you try out this trend without breaking the bank. I like the combination of leather and slouchy suede.

PEEP-TOE/CUTOUT BOOTS: Wear barefoot, or with leggings or colored tights.  But never let the toe seams show!

Left: I’d like to wear this Michael Antonio Women’s Narella Boot ($59.95) with purple or maroon tights!  Also available in brown.

Right: Choose the oh DEER! Women’s Angel Bootie ($134.72) for a pretty alternative to a strappy evening sandal.

Which trend(s) are you going to try out this Fall?

Trip To Von Maur In Search Of Over-The-Knee Boots

Today I took a trip to Von Maur in hopes of trying on some of this season’s hottest over-the-knee boots.  But, I guess it’s just too early to find those in department stores.  It is mid-August, and the temperature has been holding in the mid-eighties here.  However, my shopping trip was far from futile.  I spotted tons of cute cutout booties, knee-high boots, cage boots and strappy sandals.  Read on to see these trendy and affordable shoes, and where you can buy them online.

Guide To Wearing OTK Boots (Keep It Classy!)

Over the knee: Fall’s high notes bring knee-skimming styles to great heights.

When you hear the phrase “over-the-knee boots”, you probably think of the movie “Pretty Woman“, like my Twitter friends @katefogarty and @MissGerri.  But move over, Julia Roberts!  Over-the-knee boots can actually look quite chic, when they aren’t pointy black patent stilettos!  Designers have created fresh styles in all colors and fabrics for the fall season that will work perfectly for a casual weekend and even a day at the office.  Over-the-knee boots (a.k.a. OTK boots) can add a wow factor to any look.  But the line between trashy and chic is extremely thin here. Read on to learn how to keep your look classy while incorporating the “it” boot of the season.

Some Ideas on Boots with Dresses

I’ll admit that I used to be one of those girls who relegated all boots to the back of my shoe closet, only to be released and worn with jeans as winter approached.  But this picture of Rihanna rocking a sweater dress and knee-high boots inspired me to try pairing boots with dresses myself, and not only in the fall but in all four seasons.  I marvel at all the stars who pull off the Boots with Dresses look, and it seems to be the next big thing.  Boots are one form of footwear you really should invest in because you can wear them year-round.  Just pick a few pairs that aren’t too trendy so they will last you more than one or two seasons and will go with more outfits.  Whether for the office or your weekend away, a pretty dress with the right pair of boots is just what you need.  Here are a few looks I’ve put together.  What do you think of wearing boots in the summer?  With dresses in general?
